  SEVERAL PARK REGULATIONS

 

  • No person shall be allowed in a park except between the hours of sunrise to sunset, unless a special permit is granted by  The Park and Recreation Board.

       

  • No person shall stand or lie on a table, bench, or seat.

 

  • No gambling, or obscene or indecent act or language, or any conduct that may annoy others shall be allowed in a park.

 

  • No person shall park any vehicle in any portion of the park except in the proper parking areas, and no person shall occupy a parked vehicle after
    dark except with the interior light on. 

     

  • No persons shall injure, damage or deface any buildings, trees, plants or equipment in any park.

 

  • No person shall light or permit a fire to burn in a park except in fireplaces provided for such purposes.

 

  • The playing of golf is prohibited in any park.

 

  • The use of javelins, arrows, discus, or similar equipment dangerous in character is prohibited.

 

  • A permit must be obtained for groups in excess of 25 persons and for
    groups interested in playing organized sports activities.
          
               

  • Any person walking their dog must clean up after their pet.

 

 2010 PARK IMPROVEMENTS & RENOVATIONS

 

  • Constructed a new baseball field at Meadow Green Park

 

  • Renovated all baseball fields.  This includes seeding, fertilizing, edging, weeding, adding new Diamond-Tex,
    new pitching rubbers, and home plates.

 

  • Conducted an Arbor Day tree planting at Old Central School, as Springfield was presented with the Tree City U.S.A. Award for the 17th consecutive year.

         

  • Seal coated and re-lined the upper parking lot at Crowell Park.

         

  • Constructed a new garden and walking path around the 911 Memorial at the Township Building.

 

  • Seal coated and re-lined the basketball courts in Williams Park.

 

  • Completed all preparations to the baseball fields at Netherwood Park for the A.A. to hold a state baseball tournament. 

 

  • Continued with the use of the Safeturf Program on all playing fields.  Program uses totally organic materials for field maintenance and upkeep.  The Parks Department uses no harmful chemicals for its field maintenance.



     

  • Renovated the football goal posts at Church Road Park and the basketball backboards at Jane Lownes Park
    and the hockey goals at Crowell Park.

 

  • Put down new layer of Wood Carpet under all playground equipment in all Parks.

     
  • Completed a playground safety inspection on all equipment and made all necessary repairs. 

 

  • Completed fall renovations to all playing fields.  This includes aerifying, thatching, seeding, fertilizing and topdressing.

 

  • Installed new dasher board panels and fencing at the hockey rink at CrowellPark.
