Several Park Regulations

  1. No person shall be allowed in a park except between the hours of sunrise to sunset, unless a special permit is granted by the Park and Recreation Board.
  2. No person shall stand or lie on a table, bench, or seat.
  3. No alcoholic beverages or drugs or persons under the influence of either one shall be allowed in a park.
  4. No gambling, or obscene or indecent act or language, or any conduct that may annoy others shall be allowed in a park.
  5. No person shall park any vehicle in any portion of a park except in the proper parking areas, and no person shall occupy a parked vehicle after dark except with the interior light on.
  6. No person shall injure, damage or deface any buildings, trees, plants or equipment in any park.
  7. No person shall light or permit a fire to burn in a park, except in fireplaces provided for such purposes.
  8. The playing of golf is prohibited in any park.
  9. The use of javelins, arrows, discus, or similar equipment dangerous in character is prohibited.
  10. A permit must be obtained for groups in excess of 25 persons and for groups interested in playing organized sports activities.
  11. Residents walking their dogs in Parks are to have the dog leashed at all times and must clean up after their pets.

2016 Park Improvements & Renovations

  1. Installed new multi-functional play structure in Rolling Green Park.
  2. Renovated all baseball fields in preparation for the 2016 season. This includes seeding, fertilizing, edging, weeding,  
    adding new Diamond-Tex, new pitching rubber, and home plates.
  3. Conducted and Arbor Day tree planting at Memorial Park, as Springfield was presented the Tree City Award for the 24th consecutive year.
  4. Installed new dugouts to the baseball field at Walsh Park.
  5. Installed new sidewalk along the front of Rolling Green Park.
  6. Installed new 6 foot whirl and slide at Williams Park.
  7. Completed a playground safety inspection on all equipment and made all necessary repairs.
  8. Completed fall renovations to all playing fields. This includes aerifying, thatching, seeding, fertilizing and topdressing.
  9. Prepared and maintained the basefall fields for two youth baseball tournaments held at Netherwood Park. 
  10. Put down new layer of wood carpet under all playground equipment.
