Springfield Twp. Library Presents: Dracula’s Relevance and Influence in the 21st Century
Bram Stoker might not have invented the vampire, but his novel Dracula certainly has played a major role in shaping our modern imagination. In this talk, Dr. Nina Benhardus, an Assistant Professor of English at Delaware County Community College, will consider both what it means to be a vampire within the world of Dracula and what real-world, Victorian anxieties Dracula represents. We will also explore how Dracula is still relevant and influential in the 21st century.
Bio: Nina Benhardus is an Assistant Professor of English at Delaware County Community College. They earned their PhD in 19th and 20th century British literature from the University of Iowa, and since then they’ve taught at colleges in Iowa, California, and Pennsylvania.
