Several Park Regulations

  1. No person shall be allowed in a park except between the hours of sunrise to sunset, unless a special permit is granted by the Park and Recreation Board.
  2. No person shall stand or lie on a table, bench, or seat.
  3. No alcoholic beverages or drugs or persons under the influence of either one shall be allowed in a park.
  4. No gambling, obscene or indecent act or language, or any conduct that may annoy others shall be allowed in a park.
  5. No person shall park any vehicle in any portion of a park except in the proper parking areas, and no person shall occupy a parked vehicle after dark except with the interior light on.
  6. No person shall injure, damage or deface any buildings, trees, plants or equipment in any park.
  7. No person shall light or permit a fire to burn in a park, except in fireplaces provided for such purposes.
  8. The playing of golf is prohibited in any park.
  9. The use of javelins, arrows, discus, or similar equipment dangerous in character is prohibited.
  10. A permit must be obtained for groups in excess of 25 persons and for groups interested in playing organized sports activities.
  11. Residents walking their dogs in Parks are to have the dog leashed at all times and must clean up after their pets.

2023 Park Improvements & Renovations

  1. Installed walking track around multipurpose field at Meadowgreen Park. 
  2. Constructed new bathroom facilities and snack stand at Church Road Park. 
  3. Conducted an Arbor Day Tree Planting at Memorial Park, as Springfield was presented with the Tree City USA award for the 30th consecutive year. 
  4. Conducted Earth Day Tree planting at Wildwood Park.
  5. Completed renovations to Meadowgreen Park including new multi-purpose playing field, new tot-lot, new landscaping, and parking lot.
  6. Completed a playground safety inspection on all equipment and made all necessary repairs.
  7. Installed new split rail fencing at Wildwood and Netherwood Parks.
  8. Installed new Spring Rider at playground at Walsh Park.
  9. Currently renovating Crowell Park with additional parking, increased drainage for rink, new tot-lot, and landscaping.
