Several Park Regulations

  1. No person shall be allowed in a park except between the hours of sunrise to sunset, unless a special permit is granted by the Park and Recreation Board.
  2. No person shall stand or lie on a table, bench, or seat.
  3. No alcoholic beverages or drugs or persons under the influence of either one shall be allowed in a park.
  4. No gambling, or obscene or indecent act or language, or any conduct that may annoy others shall be allowed in a park.
  5. No person shall park any vehicle in any portion of a park except in the proper parking areas, and no person shall occupy a parked vehicle after dark except with the interior light on.
  6. No person shall injure, damage or deface any buildings, trees, plants or equipment in any park.
  7. No person shall light or permit a fire to burn in a park, except in fireplaces provided for such purposes.
  8. The playing of golf is prohibited in any park.
  9. The use of javelins, arrows, discus, or similar equipment dangerous in character is prohibited.
  10. A permit must be obtained for groups in excess of 25 persons and for groups interested in playing organized sports activities.
  11. Residents walking their dogs in Parks are to have the dog leashed at all times and must clean up after their pets.

2021 Park Improvements & Renovations

  1. Installed new playground equipment in Wildwood, and Rolling Green Parks.
  2. Installed new handicapped toddler swings at the swing sets at Williams, and Rolling Green Parks.
  3. Renovated all baseball fields in preparation for the 2017 season. This includes seeding, fertilizing, edging, weeding, adding new Diamond-Tex, new pitching rubbers, and home plates.
  4. Conducted and Arbor Day tree planting at Memorial Park, as Springfield was presented the Tree City Award for the 25th consecutive year.
  5. Installed a new Bocce Court in Church Rd. Park.
  6. Installed new sidewalks along the front of Rolling Green Park, Williams and Wagner Wayside Parks.
  7. Completed a playground safety inspection on all equipment and made all necessary repairs.
  8. Completed fall renovations to all playing fields. This includes aerifying, thatching, seeding, fertilizing, and topdressing.
  9. Prepared and maintained the baseball fields for two youth baseball tournaments held at Netherwood Park.
  10. Renovated the Tennis courts at Crowell Park. This includes power washing the court seal coating, adding new lines, and installing new posts and nets.
  11. Installed a Historical Information sign at the entrance to Jane Lownes Park. This was done as and Eagle Scout project.
